Terms of Service

Punya(“Punya”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) is a registered non-governmental organisation operating in India. We operate the website at https://punya.ngo and the Punya mobile application (collectively, the “Platform”) to facilitate donations, cow sponsorships, and community-led cow welfare programmes.

By accessing or using the Platform you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you do not agree, please do not use the Platform. These Terms apply to all visitors, donors, sponsors, volunteers, and any other users.

You must be at least 18 years old, or have the consent of a parent or legal guardian, to use the Platform. By using the Platform you represent that you meet this requirement. If you are using the Platform on behalf of an organisation, you represent that you have authority to bind that organisation to these Terms.

• All donations made through the Platform are voluntary contributions to Punya for cow welfare activities.
• Donations are processed through third-party payment providers. By making a donation you agree to those providers' terms and privacy policies in addition to ours.
• Punya is a registered NGO. Donations may be eligible for tax benefits under applicable Indian law (e.g., Section 80G of the Income Tax Act, 1961). We will issue receipts to support such claims, but we make no guarantee regarding your individual tax position.
• All donations are non-refundable unless a transaction error or duplicate charge has occurred, in which case please contact us within 7 days at hello@punya.ngo.
• Amounts displayed on the Platform are in Indian Rupees (INR) unless otherwise stated.

When you sponsor a cow you agree to a recurring or one-time contribution for that cow's care. Sponsorships fund feeding, medical treatment, and shelter costs at our partner gaushalas. Photo and progress updates are shared on a best-effort basis and may be affected by gaushala operational conditions. Punya reserves the right to reassign sponsorship funds to another cow in the programme if the sponsored cow's circumstances change materially (e.g., recovery, adoption, or death).

• You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activities that occur under your account.
• You agree to provide accurate and current information when creating or updating your account.
• Notify us immediately at hello@punya.ngo if you suspect unauthorised access to your account.
• We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or applicable law.

You agree not to:

• Use the Platform for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any regulations.
• Submit false, misleading, or fraudulent information, including donor details or payment data.
• Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the Platform or its related systems.
• Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the Platform.
• Reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from Platform content without our prior written consent.
• Impersonate any person or entity, or misrepresent your affiliation with any person or entity.

All content on the Platform — including text, images, logos, videos, and software — is owned by or licensed to Punya and is protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may share our content for non-commercial purposes provided you attribute Punya and link back to https://punya.ngo.

The Platform may contain links to third-party websites or integrate third-party services (e.g., payment gateways, analytics). We are not responsible for the content, privacy practices, or terms of those third parties. Accessing them is at your own risk.

The Platform is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the Platform will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of viruses or other harmful components.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Punya and its officers, trustees, employees, and partners shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Platform, including but not limited to loss of data or goodwill. Our total liability to you for any claim arising from these Terms shall not exceed the amount you donated to us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

You agree to indemnify and hold Punya and its trustees, officers, employees, and agents harmless from any claims, losses, damages, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the Platform, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any rights of a third party.

These Terms are governed by the laws of India. Any disputes arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Platform shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in Rajasthan, India. We encourage you to contact us first at hello@punya.ngo so we can try to resolve disputes informally.

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will post the revised Terms with a new effective date. Continued use of the Platform after the effective date constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms. For material changes we will make reasonable efforts to notify registered users via email.
